Gap Analysis

Although existing research covers regulations and accident investigations quite well, there are still important gaps that need attention. First, very few studies bring together different fields such as environmental science, public policy, and aviation management to understand helicopter tourism in a more holistic way. Most research looks at these areas separately, which limits our understanding of how they influence one another.

Second, even though the DGCA and AAIB publish technical reports on safety issues, there is still very little publicly available information on long-term safety trends, operator performance, and how well companies follow the rules. This lack of transparent data makes it difficult for researchers and the public to assess whether safety is improving over time.

Finally, there is not enough research on how local communities feel about helicopter tourism or how much they are involved in shaping related policies. This is especially important in sensitive regions where noise, pollution, and cultural impacts directly affect residents.

Filling these gaps is crucial for developing future policies that are balanced and fair policies that support economic growth while also protecting the environment and respecting community needs.
